Electricity Fee for Family Life Center
For each co-op meeting, we will take up $1.00 from each family to go toward electricity for the Family Life Center. Lynette has said $10 per meeting should cover it. If we end up taking up enough money before the year is over, I will let you know, and we will stop collecting. We only need to take up a total of $80 for the year from our entire group. Thank you for taking part to help make it possible to use this nice facility that has been offered to us.
Thank you, Lynette, for working it out for us and taking care of the details for us to have co-op at the family life center at Abundant Life Tabernacle. We all appreciate you so very much.
Latest email update regarding homeschool co-op classes
The latest email sent to homeschool families regarding the co-op update for
2007-2008
Hello Homeschoolers!
Co-op classes will be starting in September. I have been working on nailing down what we will do for this year. I have made some changes to the classes, and this email is to specifically let you know what those changes are and what part you will play as a member of the co-op this year. Changes are in red.
#1 There will be classes for PreK-12th grade.
#2 Pre K-5th grade will have classes on the 2nd Friday of each month at the Family Life Center of Abundant Life Tabernacle. Class time has changed. It will be from 11:30 AM until 2PM. We will not have a lunch during this time, so you will need to plan on an early or late lunch on this day.
#3 6th-12th grade will have classes on the 4th Friday (same place and time). In order to take part in these classes, students must sign up for a job to work with the younger kids on the 2nd Friday, and parents must sign up to work with the older kids on the 4th Friday. If you have small children,
you might be exempt from working...we will talk about it.
#4 Classes this year will be as follows: 1. Games, 2. Spanish, 3. Science, 4. History, 5. Spelling, 6. Government, 7. Geography, and 8. Bible Drill.
#5 Jennifer has prepared ALL of the curriculum for each grade & class even down to the games. That's right! No one has to prepare ANYTHING! Most all of the curriculum will come from the Abeka program and will be grade appropriate. As always, this is to ADD to what your children are learning at home and not to replace subjects to be taught at home!
#6 I need your help 6th-12th graders!
If you are a 6th-12th grader who would like to participate in co-op, you need to contact me. This week if possible...to make arrangements to meet with me to get your packet for your upcoming class you will be helping in with the younger kids.
#7.I need your help PARENTS of 6th-12th graders!
Please contact me to make arrangements to meet with me to pick up your packet!
#8 There will not be a nursery. Parents are welcome to bring their younger children with them. There will be a room to socialize in during co-op with your younger children. You are welcome to bring snacks to share if you like.
#9
Field Trips are open to all members of the co-op whether they participate in co-op "classes" or not. As sign up for field trips is requested the limo may be available for rides. There are only 17 seats in the limo, and we will accomm-odate those who sign up first.
Limo Seats will also only be available to those who are participating members of the co-op classes.
#10.
To become a member, all you have to do is SIGN UP on the guestbook on the website. If you have already signed the guestbook from last year and would like to update your profile, just send me your update in an email and I will update it for you. To locate the guestbook, go to
www.meridianhomeschoollearningco-op.com, and click on "classes". From there, you will find a link to the guestbook. I have made it as inconvenient for strangers to locate this as possible while at the same time still making it accessible to you to view our members profiles.
#11 I will be starting a newsletter again which will start in September which you will receive each day. This is where you will be notified when it is time to sign up for field trips and if the limo will be available for that particular trip.
#12 We will have a Thanksgiving Celebration, Individual grade Christmas parties in the Limo, Valentine Party, and Masquerade Party in March.
#13. Tina James will be organizing standardized testing for us again in May.
#14. I look forward to seeing you all!
